OUR PROPOSAL STORY

I've been beyond off the grid.  My thoughts have taken somewhat of a detour...

I'M GETTING MARRIED!!! ME AND NATHAN ARE GONNA GET SUPER MARRIED!!!

Two weeks ago on the best day of the year, 4/20...Nathan asked me to be his wife.  I said, "YEAH!"  We spent the next two hours kissing + hugging + making phone calls.

I wanted to share a little of our story with you and asked Nathan to write today's entry.  I love his sweet words so much.  The first photo is my own, I took it right before Nathan proposed.  It's such a special photo to me, the joy and anticipation in that moment for him...I'm just so glad I took that photo.

I knew that I wanted to marry Kristi pretty early on in dating her.  It didn't take long for us to become best friends, for our love to grow deep.  We started looking for rings soon after we both said that we wanted to get married out loud. We ended up getting a beautiful custom made ring from Katie Carder.  When I started planning the proposal I  had a good idea of how it would go down but wanted to be sure. I asked a couple of her closest friends what they knew, just to make sure I didn’t miss any part of her dream proposal.  All that she wanted was someone to photograph the engagement.

I called my friend Randal who is a photographer in Chicago. He travels out of the country a lot so the times that he could shoot were limited. As it turned out the only time he could make it down was on his birthday, so it was so cool that he made the time for us.

Wednesdays are Kristi and I’s date night. Kristi ironically picked a restaurant that was very close to the place that I wanted to propose to her.  I had early met up with Randal and showed him where to hide and where exactly I was going to do it.  I was going to get her out there under the guise of taking photos of the view and each other.  Often we will just go somewhere and take pictures of each other, just for fun.  So it wasn't out of the normal for us to do something like that.  So we pulled up to the location after dinner.  Kristi was not expecting anything.  She saw Randal walking around but he was acting as if he was taking pictures of nature.  She took a few photos of me standing and then handed me the camera.

I set the camera down on a picnic table that was near by. I took Kristi's hands and told her that I love her very much.  I must admit that I mumbled a little bit but I said that I couldn't imagine my life without her.  I got down on one knee pulled out the ring from my pocket and asked her if she would marry me.  She was surprised and eager because all she said in reply was “yeah!”

Kristi is my best friend. I can't imagine my life without her. She is the person I think of when I wake up and when I go to bed. I want to give her everything that I can.  Kristi is the one that I choose.  I love her with all that I have.
